Great article. Thanks for sharing.

Check the Calendar of Events Page to see all the Youth Activities we will be involved with this year. We need volunteers for all the events. Contact Dave Abraham to volunteer. Also some links to several youth camps on the Links to Sites page.

Brook Trout, Rainbows and Brown trout were released into the Hokendauqua Creek this afternoon. The TIC class released them just a little upsteam from the Covered Bridge in Kreidersville. After the release the students did some water quality testing. Next month the group will get some fly tying and fly casting instructions as part of the First Cast program.

Youth fishing at the Kreidersville Covered Bridge Festival May 31/June 1, 2014. They stocked about 100 nice sized trout for the youngsters to catch. Most of the kids hooked at least one trout and landed it.

Hokey TU members participated in the annual Kreidersville Covered Bridge Festival again this year. Members helped young people learn to spin cast (and more importantly catch fish) along the creek at the bridge on both Saturday and Sunday May 31 and June 1. Fun was had by all. The stream was stocked with over 100 trout by KCBF association.

Great day at the Wild Turkey Federation's Jakes Youth Field Day on Saturday, August 2, 2014. Rain held off and wasn't excessively hot. Pictures in the Photo section. Fish were very cooperative. Many of the youngsters caught fish. Several caught their first fish ever. Hats off to all the volunteers.

Jacob Smith attended the PA Rivers Conservation and Fly Fishing Camp at The Allenbury Resort in June 2016.

During the camp they gave out the J. Leon Chandler Award, which is presented to the student who showed leadership, a willingness to learn and to teach his peers. Jacob was this year’s recipient and his name will be engraved on the existing plaque with the rest of the recipients that hangs in the fly fishing museum that is at the Allenberry Resort.

Jacob was also interviewed by the local TV station that did a short clip on the camp.  Here is the link:  http://abc27.com/2016/06/26/fly-fishing-camp-helps-teach-students-about-conservation/

Jacob has been attending the chapter's fly tying classes for several years and was anxiously awainting his 14th birthday which is a requirement to attend the camp.
