Schedule of  Activities for 2016

1) A Fly Tying Course is planned for eight consecutive Saturdays (weather permitting) in January and February (1/9, 16, 30 and 2/6, 13, 20, 27, 3/5-2016). It is scheduled for 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM each Saturday. The course includes a 100 page color manual of instruction, live demonstrations by fly tying experts, virtually one-on-one help, all materials and equipment (fly tying materials, vises, and tool kits)are supplied and it is free for PHW veterans.

 

2) A Fly Fishing Outing is scheduled for May 21st 2016 at Bob Saks’ Pond. Rain date May 22nd  Time: 10 AM to 3 PM includes donuts and coffee, full picnic lunch and materials and equipment. Open to vets and family members, please pre-register. Instruction will be provided on fly casting, fly tying and fishing.. A flyer will be emailed to you  in March.

 

3) A Fly Fishing Weekend is tentatively scheduled for June 24-26 2016 at Benton PA near Fishing Creek. The weekend includes dinner Friday night at the Rickett’s Glenn Hotel, dessert at Fred Peifer’s Pfeatherbed & Breakfast. On Saturday, Fred and Mary will provide breakfast and dinner, we will fish all day with a picnic lunch sponsored by the Fishing Creek Sportsman’s Association . Sunday breakfast may be provided by the local VFW followed by a half day of fishing and a return to the Rickett’s Glenn Hotel for lunch. This special event is limited to 8 veterans and their instructors. Vets attending Bob Saks' May event will have the first opportunity to sign up. Until I here from Fred, the date is tentative.

 

 

4) Adding two mini-outings at Bob Saks' Pond for Thursdays  July 14 2016 and August 18 2016 this year. The group will be limited to 8 vets and 8 instructors. Details to follow this summer.

 

5. A Fly Fishing Outing will be held at Green-Walk Trout Hatchery in the Bangor PA on Saturday, September 24th  2016. Host: Ty Bartosh, Owner Time:10 AM to 3 PM includes donuts and coffee, full picnic lunch and materials and equipment. Instruction will be provided on fly casting, fly tying and fishing. Fishing will be located on the Green Walk Creek, detailed flyer provided in late August.
